Waitlist and Eligibility Specialist An employee for this position is responsible for processing applications for the public housing, housing choice voucher, and property management programs. Work involves ensuring that applicants are given fair and courteous treatment and that placements are made in conformance with approved HUD and agency policies and standards. This job deals with inquiries on the phone, and supplies information regarding the organization and programs to the general public, clients and customers. Work is performed with considerable independence.
Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains waiting list for public housing, housing choice voucher, and property management programs. Read and apply policy guidelines to unique queries. Able to perform arithmetic calculations, file documents.
  • Must be organized and able to work independently. Prepare correspondence and documents Schedule appointments Prepare packets for mailing
  • Knowledge of HUD programs a plus but not necessary.
  • Responds to all inquiries concerning the waiting list.
  • Interviews applicants for eligibility. Prepares and sends income verification forms to various agencies and places of applicants' employment and income sources.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to coordinate mass mailings.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Minimum Experience and Training:
High school diploma A combination of experience and post high school training in basic math and processing skills. (Preferred).
