Description We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a boutique litigation practice in Beverly Hills, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This role supports attorneys across active civil litigation matters and is well suited for someone who thrives in a deadline-driven legal environment. The position offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to cases moving through state, federal, and appellate courts while working with a collaborative legal team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate litigation calendars, monitor court dates, and track critical deadlines to help matters progress efficiently.
- Draft, format, and submit legal documents for filing in state and federal courts with accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage electronic filing activities through court-approved platforms, including PACER and other applicable systems.
- Assemble tables of contents and tables of authorities for briefs, motions, and other court submissions.
- Organize pleadings, exhibits, correspondence, and related records to maintain complete and orderly case files.
- Prepare supporting materials and document sets for hearings, filings, and attorney review.
- Provide daily administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling multiple matters at once.
- Review upcoming deadlines proactively and follow up on pending items to keep case activity on schedule. Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience supporting civil litigation matters in a legal secretary or paralegal capacity.
- Strong understanding of filing procedures and practice requirements in both state and federal courts.
- Hands-on experience with e-filing systems, including PACER and other electronic court submission tools.
- Proven ability to manage legal calendars and maintain accuracy across competing deadlines.
- Experience preparing tables of authorities and tables of contents for court filings.
- Excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Background in defense litigation is strongly preferred.
- Appellate litigation exposure is helpful, though not required.
