The Preventing and Ending Homelessness Project (PEHP) provides a wide range of legal services to vulnerable housed and unhoused people, while building and maintaining partnerships with social service providers and local agencies. The Intake Screener will work with PEHP to manage calls, emails, social service provider referrals, and other requests for legal assistance. This position is onsite. As such, the employee will be required to work in the office or other work-related locations to meet workload/business needs. Candidates must be located in the Southern California region and able to commute if needed.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Handle a high-volume of calls and review emails from community members seeking legal services. Conduct intake interviews with potential clients to assess their needs and eligibility for PEHP services. Schedule callers for legal clinics and phone intake slots. Print and organize court documents to assist attorneys preparing for trial. (in-person activity required) Perform administrative tasks, such as typing client interview notes, entering client information into a case management database, uploading relevant documents to document management databases, completing biweekly timesheets, opening and closing digital case files timely and accurately, and all other administrative duties as required by Bet Tzedek's procedures. Assist with in-person intakes to unhoused individuals and individuals at imminent risk of homelessness (local travel required). Coordinate internal and external referrals, as instructed by the Directing Attorney. Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
AA/AS and/or BA/BS or equivalent work/life experience (required). Spanish proficiency and ability to provide written and oral Spanish translation (preferred). Proficiency with MS Office and legal database (including Word; Power Point; Excel) (required). Proficiency with NetDocs or other web-based document management system (preferred). Proficiency with case management systems (e.g. Clio or LegalServer) (preferred). At least 2-3 years of intake experience (preferred). Demonstrated patience, compassion, respect and commitment to serving vulnerable and low-income persons (required). Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to Bet Tzedek's mission of equal justice for all and Bet Tzedek's core values of leadership, community-based advocacy, and innovation (required).
Salary:
$63,260.23 - $67,172.22 (DOE/DOQ) $32.44/per hour - $34.45/per hour
