We are currently seeking experienced both Litigation Paralegal and Legal Secretary to help support out Casualty & Mass Tort Litigation team in our downtown Baton Rouge office. We are looking to bring aboard both a Litigation Paralegal and a Litigation Legal Secretary as 100% on-site positions (offer flexibility with scheduling if urgent or personal matters should arise). We are looking for candidates with 3+ years of litigation support experience in a law firm environment. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, maintaining strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities, and thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Prior casualty, mass tort, or maritime litigation experience is highly valued. RESPONSIBILITIES
Support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from case inception through discovery, trial preparation, post-trial matters, and case closure. Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, pleadings, court filings, exhibits, and other legal documents. Draft and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and other litigation documents. Assist with the preparation and coordination of depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial support. Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and other case-related documents. Coordinate electronic discovery and maintain litigation case files, both electronic and physical. Maintain attorney calendars, litigation deadlines, court schedules, and case dockets. Open new client matters, perform conflict checks, maintain filing systems, and assist with billing and time entry. Arrange meetings, conference calls, and other attorney scheduling needs. Transcribe dictation and provide additional administrative support as needed. Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and internal team members while providing timely project updates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of litigation support experience as a Litigation Paralegal or Legal Secretary in a law firm environment. Comprehensive understanding of the litigation lifecycle, including case management, discovery, trial preparation, and court filing procedures. Experience preparing court filings, exhibits, discovery materials, and litigation support documents. Knowledge of federal and state court filing procedures; e-filing experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills. Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, document management systems, and legal billing software. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset. Prior maritime litigation experience is highly preferred for Legal Secretary candidates. Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred; Paralegal Certificate highly desired for Paralegal candidates. Maintain a positive, professional attitude while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
