Job Description

Job Summary The District Attorney's Office is seeking a reliable, highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to provide administrative and clerical support to prosecutors and legal staff. This position plays a critical role in the efficient operation of the office by assisting with case preparation, court coordination, and confidential legal documentation. Responsibilities Prepare, type, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence Maintain and manage case files and records in accordance with office policies and legal requirements Schedule court appearances, hearings, meetings, and appointments; track deadlines and court dates File legal documents with courts and law enforcement agencies, including electronic filings Answer and route phone calls; communicate professionally with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, attorneys, and the public Assist prosecutors with case preparation and trial support as needed Enter and update case information in case management systems Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in legal studies or office administration preferred) Previous experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or administrative professional preferred Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and criminal justice processes preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with strong phone etiquette. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team of attorneys and staff.
