In this vital role, you will ensure that healthcare providers receive timely reimbursement by managing the entire billing cycle, from coding procedures to following up on outstanding claims. Your attention to detail and knowledge of healthcare claims management will directly impact the financial health of our organization and improve patient satisfaction through clear communication and precise documentation. Responsibilities Prepare and submit medical claims using billing software, ensuring accuracy in coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding standards. Review medical records and documentation to verify the correctness of diagnoses, procedures, and billing codes. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by contacting insurance companies and health plans to resolve discrepancies or errors. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, adjustments, and collections within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation requirements and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Manage medical collections process by communicating professionally with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment options. Stay updated on changes in healthcare laws, insurance policies, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement processes. Experience Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a healthcare setting such as clinics or hospitals. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims management processes. Familiarity with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting purposes. Experience with CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), DRG classifications, and health insurance procedures. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare providers. Understanding of medical coding standards including ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems used for diagnosis classification. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
