CERTIFIED MEDICAL CODER & BILLER - CARDIOLOGY
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder and Biller with strong cardiology-specific expertise to join our busy and fast paced cardiology/electrophysiology practice. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience coding and billing for both outpatient cardiology services and inpatient/hospital-based cardiology procedures .
Qualifications:
Current professional coding certification (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) Minimum 2-3 years of cardiology coding and billing experience preferred Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and cardiology-specific coding guidelines Experience with outpatient office visits, diagnostic testing, and cardiac procedures Experience coding inpatient and hospital-based cardiology procedures Familiarity with cardiac catheterization, coronary interventions, electrophysiology procedures, ablations, pacemakers, ICDs, and other cardiovascular procedures Strong understanding of modifiers, global periods, NCCI edits, medical necessity, and payer-specific requirements Experience reviewing documentation and identifying coding or documentation deficiencies Knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance billing requirements Experience with claim denials, coding-related appeals, and reimbursement optimization Excellent attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy and compliance
Key Responsibilities:
Review physician documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes Code outpatient cardiology visits, diagnostic testing, and procedures Code inpatient and hospital cardiology and electrophysiology procedures Ensure appropriate modifiers and documentation requirements are met Identify coding errors and opportunities for improved reimbursement Work denied or underpaid claims related to coding issues Communicate with physicians and staff regarding documentation improvements Maintain compliance with Medicare, payer, and regulatory coding requirements We are specifically looking for someone with real-world cardiology coding experience , not simply general medical billing experience.
