Duties Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments, ensuring all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date Obtain insurance prior authorizations for complex procedures, coordinating with insurance companies to facilitate approvals Review and interpret insurance policies, including understanding health insurance policies related to dental coverage, managed care plans, and specific provider networks Accurately code procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding systems to ensure proper billing Manage electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies Perform insurance verification and billing tasks using medical billing software, ensuring timely claims submission and follow-up on denials or delays Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, co-pays, deductibles, and payment options while providing excellent customer service Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations related to medical records management Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, coding standards, and healthcare regulations affecting dental insurance processing Experience Proven experience in medical office administration or dental office coordination with a focus on insurance processing and billing Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care plans, and dental insurance benefits Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical records management standards Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health records management Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, medical terminology, medical billing practices, and insurance verification procedures Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives Ability to adapt quickly to changing healthcare regulations and maintain meticulous attention to detail in all administrative tasks Join us as a Dental Insurance Coordinator where your expertise will directly contribute to delivering exceptional patient care while streamlining administrative processes.
