Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for mental health diagnoses and procedures. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly by communicating with insurance companies and resolving discrepancies. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances while ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff to clarify billing issues and improve overall revenue cycle processes. Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations, insurance policies, and updates in medical coding standards to ensure ongoing compliance. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing statements and payment options professionally and efficiently. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a mental health or behavioral health setting. Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management processes, including familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office tools. Expertise in medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards. Familiarity with health insurance policies, medical terminology, medical records management, and medical collection procedures. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for billing purposes. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all billing activities. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers, patients, and team members.
