Job Overview
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coder/Biller to join our healthcare administrative team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical coding, billing procedures, and insurance claim processing, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. As a Medical Coder/Biller, you will be responsible for translating medical records into standardized codes, managing billing processes, and ensuring timely reimbursement from third-party payers. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the efficiency of the revenue cycle management and the overall financial health of our organization. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes according to current medical coding guidelines. Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate medical collection efforts and resolve discrepancies. Ensure compliance with health insurance policies, third-party billing requirements, and regulatory standards. Maintain detailed and organized medical records related to billing and coding activities for audit purposes. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure proper coding for inpatient and outpatient services. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, including ICD-10 updates, and implement necessary adjustments in billing procedures. Assist in revenue cycle management by monitoring the entire billing process from patient registration through final payment. Requirements Proven experience in medical coding/billing within a healthcare setting (preferably in Radiology), with familiarity in using billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Strong knowledge of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Understanding of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing practices, and revenue cycle management. Ability to interpret medical records accurately while adhering to coding guidelines for inpatient services. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing large volumes of medical data. Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance follow-up processes. Prior experience working in a medical office environment is preferred; familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) management is essential. Excellent communication skills Computer knowledge. Think logically and able to troubleshoot problems effectively Communicate openly with physicians, staff and customers.
