Full Job Description Job Title:
Medical Billing Generalist (In Office
  • Not remote) General summary of duties : A medical billing generalist is responsible to work on patient accounts to verify insurance, audit accounts, collect outstanding balances, primarily from patients.
This includes calling and emailing patients for open aging patient balances. This can include preparing, submitting and following up on medical claims to insurance companies when needed. Responsilbities is to generate revenue by collecting, monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts from patient and insurance companies.

Education/training:
High school diploma, billing/coder courses, or certified coder. Fully vaccinated for
COVID-19
required with proof of vaccination at time of employment.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area
Skills:
Ability to communicate and deal effectively with patients and providers, under a fast-paced environment. Able to be a self-starter and work many accounts throughly in a day.
Duties and responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ability to answer billing questions for patients in person, via phone and email
  • Liaison between patient and insurance companies
  • Obtain and update demographic and insurance information
  • Collect copay and deductibles
  • Set up prompt payment agreements
  • Submission of diligent accounts to the third-party collection agency
  • Knowledge of medical terminology as it applies to billing
  • Knowledge of how HMO/PPO plans
  • Knowledge of how to verify Insurance and benefits
  • Review and transmit claims electronically
  • Use of insurance company provider portals for claim eligibility and claim inquiries
  • Follow up with Insurance payers for unpaid/denied claims
  • Post insurance payments as needed
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Verifying and posting daily charges
  • Knowledge of HIPPA
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within medical field
  • Could include occasional receptionist coverage for lunches or other times

The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, clients, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinical environment. Busy Pediatric Practice seeking a hardworking and dependable individual. Applicants should be energetic, focused, articulate, professional, computer savvy, and able to handle a fast-paced environment and multi-task. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities can include management of multi-line phone systems, appointment scheduling, and message taking. EMR experience a must, eCW preferred. Fully vaccinated for
