In this vital role, you will serve as the bridge between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently and accurately. Your proactive approach will help optimize patient experiences while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Manage and process patient referrals by verifying insurance coverage and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete Coordinate with medical offices, specialists, and insurance providers to facilitate timely referrals and appointments Maintain accurate medical records, including referral details, insurance verification, and relevant documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations Utilize medical terminology, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 for accurate record keeping and billing purposes Conduct insurance verification to confirm patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage details before scheduling appointments Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure referral workflows are streamlined and all steps adhere to managed care guidelines Assist in resolving any issues related to insurance denials or authorizations promptly to prevent delays in patient care Experience Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting is required Familiarity with managed care processes and insurance verification procedures is essential Knowledge of medical coding systems including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding practices is advantageous Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information Experience with medical records management and office administrative tasks is beneficial Excellent communication skills for liaising effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies This role offers an energetic work environment where your attention to detail and proactive mindset will make a meaningful difference in patient care coordination.
