Job Description

This position is grant funded. The Specialty Court Treatment Coordinator personnel's focus is substance abuse and mental health assessments. It also involves proper referrals and in house follow-up services. The Specialty Court Treatment Coordinator is a licensed position that will work directly with court staff including Judges, District Attorneys, Attorneys, Court Clerks, Law Enforcement and Treatment Providers. The Specialty Court Treatment Coordinator must maintain and secure all office records regarding policy, finances, court and referrals. This position reports directly to the office of Shelby County Community Corrections. All inquiries should be directed to 205-669-8965. Screen potential participants for placement in various S4C Specialty Court programs Evaluate participant history and develop a clinical diagnostic impression Act as the liaison between S4C Specialty Courts and substance abuse treatment and mental health treatment providers to facilitate assessments and referrals Coordinate admissions and compliance for participants with treatment programs Re-evaluate and have follow-up individual sessions with participants as needed Provide S4C Specialty Court teams with feedback re: clinical recommendations, progress and status of the participants, including attending team staffing meetings and court sessions As a member of the S4C Specialty Court teams, offer insights into the disease of addiction and the philosophy of treatment to increase understanding of each for other drug court team members which are not as familiarized with such Coordinate S4C participant and alumni support group meetings Develop and implement group therapy programs Under certain circumstances conduct ASAM assessments as needed Maintains confidentiality and professional ethical standards required by state and federal statues, and generally accepted for counseling and social work practice. Attend all specialty court staffings and docketsMaster's Degree in a mental health related field Alabama Licensure as LPC or LICSW required Organized, Self Motivated, Compassionate, Basic Computer Skills, Familiar with the DSM-V and ICD-10 diagnoses, Flexible, Manage Hours Weekly, Working Environment Indoors and outside assignment areas with differing terrain and conditions. Physical Demands Must satisfactorily complete employment physical and be capable of performing the essential functions of the position. Maintains a valid Alabama driver's license Must be able to operate a vehicle or transport van. This position requires a post offer/pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical examination if necessary.
