Job Description
Step into a mission-driven municipal team in Wellington, FL and make a direct impact on public safety by helping ensure building projects meet code requirements from the plan stage. Licensed Plans Examiner/Senior Plans Examiner is a full-time, in-office opportunity where you'll review commercial and residential structural plans and collaborate with the Building Department to keep projects moving efficiently. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Licensed Plans Examiner/Senior Plans Examiner position include: DBPR Plans Examiner license is required; multi-licensing across structural and trades/MEP is preferred, with ability to obtain additional licensing considered. Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction plans and blueprints; construction industry experience is helpful. Review construction plans and specifications for both residential and commercial structures to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory standards. Provide technical assistance and customer service to the public and internal departments regarding code requirements, permitting functions, inspection requirements, and construction specifications. Interpret non-compliance issues and specify the action necessary to bring conditions to code compliance. Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory standards and building code requirements affecting the construction industry. Must possess and maintain the State of Florida Driver License and be able to drive a Village-owned vehicle per established policies and safety guidelines. Strong communication skills for both written reports and verbal coordination with residents, coworkers, supervisors, administration, and vendors.
