Village Clerk - Village of Union Springs The Village of Union Springs is seeking an experienced, and ambitious individual for the Village Clerk position for the Village of Union Springs. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with the public and employees. The candidate for this position should have the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, be reliable, and consistently meet deadlines. The Village Clerk is appointed by the Mayor, reports to the Mayor, and works with the Board of Trustees. Job Description - The clerk is responsible for coordinating various village functions and performing administrative tasks that are not assigned to other village officials, including but not limited to filing, publishing, and posting notices relating to resolutions, local laws, public hearings, open meetings, and referenda; compiling the notice and filing requirements for all village boards; maintaining postings which are required to be permanently displayed notifying the proper state and municipal officials, as required by law, of certain village business. Serve as a point of contact for citizens with questions about the Village. Village Clerk - Responsibilities
  • Schedule and attend board meetings, accurately take minutes of the meetings
  • Completion and maintenance of Local Laws and Resolutions
  • Manage water and sewer department billing and collection
  • Responsible for tax collection and reporting
  • Manage village employee payroll and track employee benefits
  • Responsible for onboarding and offboarding of employees
  • Management of grant programs
  • Assist the Village Treasurer with various tasks
  • Serve as the clerk to the Board of Trustees and all other boards such as the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, etc.
  • Records management of official records and documents of the Village, including FOIL requests
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Deputy Clerk
  • Completion of various administrative and clerical tasks

Mayor Qualifications:
Either:
A). Graduation from high school (or higher level) or possession of a high school equivalency diploma B). Municipal work experience as a clerk within State, County, City, Town, or Village Government C). Experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operations. D). Any equivalent combination of training and experience Proficiency in
Microsoft Office and Excel Job Type:

Friday Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience
