THE POSITION

As a Driver License Examiner for the Department of Transportation, you will guide applicants through testing that prepares them for the road. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports driver testing and identity verification to ensure applicants meet safety and licensing standards. It involves administering examinations, reviewing documents, and issuing license products. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:

Applicant Evaluation:

Determine physical qualifications and review vehicles and vision tests for compliance

Test Administration:

Conduct knowledge and skills examinations for non-commercial and commercial applicants

Document Verification:

Examine identity records, legal documents, and residency materials for authenticity

System Authentication:

Use databases to confirm identity and detect fraud or improper documentation

Product Issuance:

Process test results and issue driver licenses or identification cards to eligible applicants

Audit Support:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly

Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Some travel may be required, with varying work schedule as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.

This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.

All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
