Job Description

About Us SLObispo Remodelers is a licensed general contractor serving San Luis Obispo County. We handle remodels, additions, and new construction for homeowners across the Central Coast. We have grown fast over the last few years and we are not done. Our team is ambitious about the work and humble about ourselves. There are no big egos here. People pitch in, cover for each other, and share credit, and that is a large part of why we have been able to grow the way we have. About the Role This is a new position and an important one. You will be the first voice most homeowners hear when they reach out to us, and you will help keep the office running behind the scenes. Your day has two sides.
The first is client intake:
fielding calls from homeowners, understanding what they are trying to accomplish, explaining how our process works, and getting the right next step on the calendar. Most people who call us are early in their thinking, and a clear, informed conversation is what helps them decide how to move forward. The second side is pre-construction and office administration. Once a project is underway, you help shepherd it through permitting and plan review, coordinate schedules, and keep records and communication current. Getting a project from a signed feasibility study to an approved permit takes persistence, organization, and a willingness to stay on the phone with a plan checker. If you like being the person who unsticks things, this role has plenty of that. You will report to our Administration Manager and work alongside our estimating, design, and project management team. What You Will Do Client intake and follow-up (about 50 percent) Answer inbound calls from homeowners and understand the scope of what they are asking about Reach out to and follow up on new inquiries from our website, advertising, and referrals Explain our process, including our paid pre-construction feasibility studies, and help homeowners decide on the right next step Schedule estimate walkthroughs and get them on the calendar Follow up on open inquiries and outstanding feasibility study proposals until there is a clear answer Keep every conversation, contact, and next step logged accurately in our CRM Pre-construction and permitting (about 25 percent) Assist with permit applications as necessary Track every open permit and know where each one stands at all times Follow up with plan checkers, building departments, and other agencies to keep applications moving and resolve corrections Serve as the point of contact between our clients, our team, and the municipality Keep clients informed about where their project stands, what is needed from them, and what happens next Coordinate with architects, engineers, and designers to keep our pre-construction projects moving forward Maintain organized permit and pre-construction records for every active project Office administration (about 25 percent) Handle day-to-day client communication by phone, text, and email Coordinate and maintain schedules for walkthroughs, site visits, and team availability Keep project records, task boards, and shared documents organized and current Support the Administration Manager and the wider team with the various administrative work that comes with an active construction business This role does not include bookkeeping or invoicing. What We Are Looking For Construction industry experience strongly preferred, 3+ years ideal. When a homeowner calls about a bathroom remodel, a room addition, or a foundation issue, we want you to be able to speak in real construction terms, answer their questions accurately, and walk them through what their project actually involves. Most callers do not know yet. Being the knowledgeable, informative voice on the other end is what earns their confidence. Field, office, or trade experience all count. Strong administrative skills with real, demonstrable experience. You are organized, you close loops, and nothing falls through the cracks. Persistent follow-through. Permits do not move on their own, and neither do homeowners who are still deciding. You are the kind of person who checks back, keeps a list, and does not let something sit in a plan checker's queue for three weeks unnoticed. Comfortable on the phone. A good part of this job is talking with people, and you should be at ease guiding a conversation toward a decision. Confident with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar). You should be genuinely proficient here, not just familiar. Comfortable learning new software. We run our business on a CRM and task management tools, and you will live in them daily. Clear, professional written and verbal communication Reliable, self-directed, and able to keep your own priorities straight in a busy office Nice to Have Experience with permitting, plan review, or working with city and county building departments, especially in San Luis Obispo County Experience reading or organizing plan sets and construction documents Client-facing or inside sales experience Estimating experience or exposure to the estimating process Experience with CRM platforms such as Jobber, HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar Experience with task or project management tools such as Trello, Asana, or Monday Schedule and Location Full-time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, standard business hours In office at our Grover Beach location.
