Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Office Manager/Biller will manages the billing functions of the facility in an accurate and timely manner while complying with federal, state, and local requirements that govern the facility and as directed by the Administrator. They will work cooperatively with all departments. The BOM maintains processes and systems in place to ensure timely and accurate collection of accounts receivable.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurate record keeping of the daily census statistics and payers Daily deposits and accurate and timely posting of cash receipts Obtaining required authorizations for all services received Billing all payers timely according to the schedule provided on the monthly AR Calendar-Medicare, MediCal, Medicare Advantage, Managed MediCal, Workers Comp, Commercial payers and patients and/or patient representatives Timely follow up on all outstanding accounts to ensure facility goals are met in DSO, Bad Debt and collection percentages Protecting PHI per HIPAA guidelines Abiding with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords Working with other Department Heads as needed Attending meetings as neededREQUIREMENTS
Education / Licensure- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred; however a combination of education, experience and training in skilled nursing accounting will be considered Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum of 2 year working with bookkeeping or accounting principles for skilled nursing
- Knowledgeable of governmental accounting (budgeting, costing, taxation, etc.)
- Knowledgeable of nursing practices, procedures, terminology, laws regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care; knowledge of state and federal nursing home guidelines.
- Outstanding communication (oral and written) skills
- Proficient and accurate with data entry and 10-key calculator
- Proficient usage of accounting software and Excel for report creation and spreadsheet updates
- Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Ability to manage critical deadlines, have keen attention to detail and must be able to work collaboratively across departments to ensure smooth office operations.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations; deal tactfully with personnel, residents and family members, visitors, government agencies and the public to achieve positive outcomes for residents, families and company goals. Working Conditions
- May encounter frequent interruptions
- May be involved with residents, family and government agencies
- Is subject to call‑back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post‑disaster, etc.)
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day
- Must be able to stand, bend and reach throughout the day
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time working on a computer
- Repetitive hand motion
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to read fine print on financial statements and invoices
