This position is primarily a PM shift position and is responsible for leading Front Office operations during some of the hotel's busiest guest arrival and service periods. The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in the daily operation of the department and directly leads Front Desk Agents, PBX Operators, and Bellmen. The ideal candidate is highly visible in the operation, comfortable making decisions, and able to lead the team while delivering exceptional guest service. This is not primarily an administrative position. We are looking for a leader who enjoys being on the floor, interacting with guests, coaching associates, and actively managing the operation. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise Front Desk Agents, PBX Operators, and Bellmen during assigned shifts Primarily oversee PM Front Office operations, including high-volume guest arrivals and evening activity Ensure efficient and professional check-in and check-out experiences Maintain a strong leadership presence in the lobby and Front Desk area Handle guest concerns, service recovery, and escalated situations promptly and professionally Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned and take ownership of hotel operational issues during the shift Coach, train, and develop Front Office associates to improve performance and guest service Conduct stand-up meetings and communicate daily priorities, occupancy, VIP arrivals, groups, events, and operational concerns Delegate responsibilities and follow up to ensure assigned tasks are completed Monitor associate performance and provide ongoing coaching and accountability Assist with scheduling, attendance management, and other departmental administrative responsibilities Monitor room inventory, room types, special requests, upgrades, and VIP accommodations Work closely with Housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready and available for arriving guests Coordinate with Engineering, Security, Banquets, and other departments to resolve guest and operational concerns Ensure guest requests are properly documented in GXP and followed through to completion Perform required functions in LightSpeed (LSPMS), MARSHA, GXP, and other Marriott systems Ensure Front Office procedures comply with Westin, Marriott, and Columbia Sussex standards Review shift reports, guest issues, and operational information and communicate important items to Front Office and hotel leadership Support the Front Office Manager with departmental projects, training, and performance improvement initiatives Qualifications Previous hotel Front Office leadership or supervisory experience required Full-service hotel experience strongly preferred Marriott experience preferred Experience with LightSpeed (LSPMS), MARSHA, GXP, or similar hotel systems strongly preferred Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold associates accountable Excellent guest service and service recovery skills Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to make sound decisions independently during busy or challenging situations Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume hotel environment Professional, dependable, and highly visible in the operation Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail Schedule and Availability This is primarily a PM shift position. The Assistant Front Office Manager should expect to work afternoon and evening shifts as the primary schedule. The position requires flexibility based on hotel occupancy and business needs, including weekends and holidays. Occasional AM or other shifts may be required to support the operation. Candidates should be comfortable working during peak arrival periods and being the primary Front Office leadership presence during evening hours. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities. Flexible availability, with primary focus on PM shifts including weekends and holidays.
