Job Description
Position Title:
Secretary - 221Days, Full-Time General Scheduled Time:
6:30am - 2:30pmReports To:
Principal Location:
Belleville High School Purpose Statement Under the supervision of the school principal and assistant principal, performs the general duties and activities to carry out the functions of the office as required to effectively operate Belleville High School. Essential Functions Serves as confidential secretary in designated office. Type correspondence, letters and memos, purchase orders, check requests, forms, etc. Answers telephones, responds to routine questions, sets appointments or routes calls to appropriate persons. Maintains files, registrations, transcripts, and all other student records including MiStar. Receives money for and from various activities, issue receipts and maintain records. Receives visitors, new parents, and students; answering questions; resolving student problems; schedules requested conferences and use of building by external groups. Maintains books for staff, student and building accounts. Compiles official Count Day reports, coordinates grade reporting, and prepares employee and student accident reports. Supervise the operation and maintenance of all building office machines. Compiles and maintains immunization records for students and coordinates immunization reports for state reporting. Coordinates substitute teacher coverage. Performs other related work as requested, assigned or directed. Minimum Experiences and Qualification Requirements High School Diploma Two years' experience preferred Ability to function effectively in a high-paced environment Outstanding oral and written communication skills; Strong human relation skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before staff.Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate computer at an intermediate level to include operation of word, excel, database program, powerpoint, CIMS and internet. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.Physical Demands:
