Job Description
Join us at the brand-new Mountain Home Community Center and help us bring excitement, connection, and top-notch service to our growing community! We're looking for an enthusiastic and highly organized Parks Secretary who enjoys working with people, supporting community programs, and keeping operations running smoothly. In this role, you'll be a friendly, welcoming presence for patrons of all ages while providing essential administrative support for the Parks & Recreation Department, the Youth Center, and the Mountain Home Community Center. If you love community involvement, teamwork, and making people feel at home, this position is a perfect fit. Duties Create a warm, inviting atmosphere for visitors, families, and community members using Parks and MHCC facilities. Support community activities by scheduling fields, meeting rooms, rentals, special events, and tournaments. Maintain accurate records for sign-ins, programs, rentals, and event participation. Answer phone calls, provide information, and help patrons with questions. Keep offices stocked and organized by assisting with supply requisitions for Parks, Youth Center, and MHCC. Process memberships for fitness programs, SilverSneakers, and Silver & Fit participants. Coordinate concession operations and communicate with vendors to support community events. Track VA benefit letters and corporate payroll-deduct memberships using Activenet. Prepare staff packets and materials for parties, special events, and tournaments. Contact patrons to collect reservation payments and confirm details. Assist with field sponsorship banner orders and collections for local businesses. Help prepare for community concert series and obtain ABC licensing as required. Handle deposits and mail pick-up for Parks, Youth Center, and MHCC. Oversee equipment check-in/check-out processes at the community center. Support safe facility use by reporting unusual activity and helping enforce rules. Work nights, weekends, and holidays during community events and peak activity periods. Perform additional duties as assigned to support a thriving community space. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Word. Valid Arkansas driver's license. Understanding of parks & recreation principles, facility operations, and community program support. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with staff, patrons, and volunteers. Highly organized with strong scheduling and multitasking abilities. Ability to monitor fee collections and issue receipts accurately.
