The Front Desk Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience at our primary care medical group. This role is responsible for managing front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is highly organized, personable, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential for effectively serving our diverse patient population.
Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
Greet patients and visitors warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes. Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff or department. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of provider schedules.
Administrative Duties:
Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Collect copayments, balances, and other fees at the time of service and provide receipts. Verify insurance coverage of all upcoming appointments; input any changes into the patient database promptly; notify patients of lost coverage as soon as possible but no later than the day before the appointment so patient can try to make any changes necessary to uphold their appointment.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in medical office administration is a plus. Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a medical office or customer service role, preferably in primary care or family medicine. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor. Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure while prioritizing tasks effectively.
