Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi We're looking for an Administration Officer to join our Resource Recovery team and play a key role in supporting Christchurch's waste, recycling, and sustainability services. This is a 9-month fixed term role. About the team | Ko te rōpū nei The Resource Recovery team is responsible for managing the city's waste, recycling, and sustainability initiatives. We oversee kerbside collections, EcoDrop transfer stations, and safe disposal options for hazardous household waste. Through public education, operational excellence, and long-term planning, we help reduce waste, improve recycling outcomes, and divert material away from landfill. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As our Administration Officer, you'll provide specialist administrative and customer service support to the Resource Recovery team. You'll act as a key point of contact for complex customer enquiries, working closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams to investigate issues, resolve service requests, and support the delivery of essential waste management services. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll make a direct contribution to maintaining high-quality services for Christchurch residents. Some of your key responsibilities will include: Responding to customer enquiries and complaints via phone, email, and other communication channels. Investigating and resolving complex waste and kerbside collection service issues. Creating, monitoring, and closing customer service requests. Liaising with contractors regarding missed collections, contamination reports, audits, and operational matters. Maintaining audit data and ensuring records are accurate and up to date. Preparing reports, correspondence, warning letters, and monitoring information. Coordinating meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions. Creating invoices and supporting administrative processes across the team. Monitoring service trends and escalating emerging issues when required. Supporting resource recovery projects, education initiatives, and wider team activities. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You'll be a proactive and adaptable administrator with excellent customer service skills and a passion for delivering quality outcomes. You're comfortable managing multiple priorities, enjoy solving problems, and can build positive working relationships with a wide range of people. To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
