Temporary Clerical Specialist

Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program Administration About the Position McCright and Associates is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Temporary Clerical Specialist to support the day-to-day administration of a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. This contractor could serve as a front-line point of contact for applicants, participants, landlords, and partner agencies, and will provide clerical support that keeps program operations running smoothly and in compliance with program requirements. Key Responsibilities Customer Service Greet and assist walk-in visitors in a courteous, professional manner Answer and route incoming phone calls; take accurate messages and return calls promptly Monitor and respond to program email inquiries from applicants, participants, and landlords Provide general information about program processes, required documents, and office procedures, referring detailed eligibility or policy questions to program staff Application and File Processing Receive, date-stamp, and log incoming applications, recertification packets, and supporting documents Review submissions for completeness and notify applicants of missing information Enter and update data in the program's case management system accurately and on time Assemble, organize, and maintain participant and landlord files Document Management Scan, copy, and index documents into the electronic filing system File and retrieve records, maintaining confidentiality and organization Prepare mailings, notices, and correspondence as directed Assist with scheduling appointments, briefings, and inspections General Clerical Support Maintain office supplies and equipment Support staff with special projects, waiting-list activities, and high-volume periods Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned in support of program administration Qualifications High school diploma or GED required At least 2 years of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience Experience in affordable housing, social services, or a government office is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort learning new software Strong typing and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to remain calm, patient, and respectful with a diverse public, including people in stressful situations Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Confidentiality This position handles sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers, income, and household details. The contractor must maintain strict confidentiality and follow all agency privacy and records-handling procedures. A background check may be required. Contract Terms Temporary contract position; anticipated duration: approx. 2

$24.00 per hour, invoiced biweekly As an independent contractor, the selected individual is responsible for their own taxes; no benefits are provided
