We are seeking a Housing Specialist to support a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. This position is responsible for managing a caseload of program participants, determining eligibility, processing certifications and recertifications, maintaining compliance with HUD regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to tenants, landlords, and community partners. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of Housing Choice Voucher participants while maintaining program compliance and utilization goals. Review applications and verified documentation to determine eligibility and calculate rent and subsidy amounts. Process annual and interim recertifications, income verifications, rent adjustments, and voucher issuances. Prepare and distribute required notices and correspondence to participants and landlords. Conduct participant and landlord briefings and provide guidance regarding program requirements. Monitor portability cases, unit transfers, overpayments, and rent reasonableness determinations. Process monthly housing assistance payments and utility allowance payments accurately and on time. Maintain accurate participant records and ensure files remain audit-ready. Respond promptly to participant, landlord, and community inquiries and resolve concerns professionally. Coordinate with inspectors to ensure required inspections are completed prior to lease execution. Maintain waiting lists, update participant information, and ensure data integrity within housing management systems. Apply HUD regulations, program policies, and administrative procedures consistently and accurately. Promote positive relationships with residents, landlords, community agencies, and stakeholders. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in public housing, affordable housing, social services, community services, case management, property management, or a related field. Some college coursework preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of HUD regulations, Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher programs, or affordable housing programs is highly preferred. Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to calculate income, rent, ratios, percentages, and maintain accurate records. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain relevant housing industry certifications within one year of hire, if required. Additional Information Position requires frequent interaction with tenants, landlords, community organizations, and government agencies. Some local travel may be required. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Primarily office-based environment with occasional field visits.
