Full-time, 40 hours per week Southern Electronics is a family-owned, fourth-generation industrial and commercial supplier that has proudly served customers throughout North America for more than 90 years. We take pride in building long-term relationships with our customers, vendors, and employees, and we are looking for the right person to become part of our growing team. We are currently seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Expediting Clerk to support our Purchasing Coordinator and Director of Operations. This is a support-focused position that plays an important role in helping our purchasing and operations departments stay organized and ensuring that open orders continue moving forward. The Expediting Clerk will regularly communicate with vendors, follow up on purchase orders, track shipment information, maintain accurate records, and communicate updates internally. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys administrative work, is comfortable with routine follow-up, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in keeping information accurate and up to date. The right person will be dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable working as part of a small team where communication and follow-through are important. Responsibilities Assist the Purchasing Coordinator and Director of Operations with daily purchasing and expediting activities Follow up with vendors regarding open purchase orders Obtain order acknowledgments, expected ship dates, and lead-time updates Monitor backorders, delayed orders, and outstanding shipments Request and record tracking information from vendors Communicate order and shipment updates to the appropriate sales and operations employees Review vendor acknowledgments and help identify discrepancies with purchase orders Bring pricing, quantity, shipment, or order discrepancies to the attention of the Purchasing Coordinator or Director of Operations Maintain accurate notes, records, and documentation within company systems Assist with data entry, filing, and other purchasing-related administrative tasks Communicate professionally with vendors, salespeople, and other employees Help keep outstanding orders organized and ensure necessary follow-up is completed Provide general clerical and operational support when needed Learn additional responsibilities and assist in other areas of the business over time as needed Qualifications Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Dependable with strong follow-through Good written and verbal communication skills Comfortable communicating with vendors by phone and email Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and internal systems Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities Ability to maintain accurate records and information Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work well independently and as part of a team Previous office, administrative, customer service, order-entry, logistics, purchasing, or similar experience is helpful but not required What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, proactive, organized, and comfortable following up on outstanding items until they are completed.
