Job Description

The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill a Transit Reservationist ( General Clerk 4A ) grade A12 position in the Office of Transportation. About the Position The Transit Reservationist performs advanced clerical and operational work supporting paratransit demand-response services. Responsible for analyzing, coordinating, scheduling, and reporting daily trips in an efficient, timely, and customer-focused manner while ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and established departmental policies and procedures. This position requires strong judgment, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to independently manage time-sensitive service requests and scheduling changes. About The Agency The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area - all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T's workforce keeps the County's various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more. Examples of Work Coordinates and schedules daily demand-response paratransit trips to ensure efficient and timely transportation services. Plans efficient trip routes and schedules trips in accordance with established procedures, service requirements, and ADA guidelines. Reviews daily driver and vehicle assignments with Transit Service Coordinators and incorporates changes into trip planning and scheduling. Maintains current knowledge of program procedures, service objectives, route changes, and additions or deletions that affect daily trip planning. Receives, records, and logs telephone requests from transit patrons, jurisdictional transportation providers, coordinators, contractors, and other service partners. Responds to patron and service-provider requests in a consistent, courteous, professional, and timely manner, requiring minimal assistance or follow-up. Prepares and maintains daily logs and manifests using established scheduling and software applications. Obtains and verifies passenger information necessary to prepare accurate daily driver trip manifests for multi-modal transportation services. Monitors daily scheduling activities to identify conflicts, resource limitations, service changes, and other issues requiring timely resolution. Submits required operational and service reports accurately and within established deadlines. Performs related advanced clerical, scheduling, reporting, and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Must have experience at the General Clerk III level equal to the length of the probationary period. OR Six (6) months of experience performing diverse clerical tasks. One (1) year of education above the high school level which includes coursework in computer data entry, secretarial subjects or business administration. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Transit Scheduling Software. Experience in high-volume call center. Knowledge of advanced Telephony Systems (familiarity with multi-line phone installations, radio communication equipment, or interactive voice response (VR).

The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31. A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse. Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren).
