Job Description

Psychiatric Physician Assistant wanted in Trenton, MI. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a current, unrestricted Physician's Assistant license issued by the State of Michigan. Must meet all applicable PsyGenics, payer, credentialing, enrollment, privileging, background, and clearance requirements. Must meet applicable program qualifications, including the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional and the Qualified Mental Health Professional criteria when required for assigned services. The Physician Assistant must possess a current, unrestricted Physician's Assistant license issued by the State of Michigan; be a graduate of a physician assistant educational program meeting Michigan licensure requirements; and have successfully completed the applicable national certifying examination required for Michigan licensure. The Physician Assistant must practice pursuant to a written practice agreement with a participating physician that meets the requirements of the Michigan Public Health Code. NCCPA certification must be maintained when required by PsyGenics credentialing, payer enrollment, privileging, or other applicable requirements. Must possess or be eligible to obtain all registrations necessary to prescribe medications within the scope of the position. When prescribing Schedule II-V controlled substances, the Physician Assistant must maintain a Michigan Controlled Substance License, applicable DEA registration, and Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS) registration and comply with applicable MAPS review, documentation, and controlled-substance prescribing requirements. Behavioral health and psychiatric experience is strongly preferred. A minimum of one year of post-graduate clinical experience with children and/or adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Autism Spectrum Disorder, or related behavioral health needs is preferred. Assigned psychiatric duties must be consistent with the Physician Assistant's education, training, experience, licensure, competency, and written practice agreement. Position Summary The Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for ensuring all services performed under the auspices of PsyGenics Inc. are responsible, ethical, and meet medical necessity standards. The Physician Assistant follows the PsyGenics Inc. mission statement and core values and provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and follow-up care under the oversight of the Medical Director/participating physician and within the PA's authorized scope of practice. The role works closely with nursing, therapy, case management, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to promote timely access, continuity of care, clinical safety, and regulatory compliance. Specific Responsibilities Practice at all times in accordance with the written practice agreement with the participating physician and communicate or consult as required by that agreement. Prescribe medications only within the Physician Assistant's authorized scope of practice, written practice agreement, and applicable federal and Michigan law. When prescribing Schedule II-V controlled substances, maintain required Michigan Controlled Substance licensure, DEA registration, and MAPS registration and comply with applicable MAPS review requirements. Maintain a bona fide provider-patient relationship and comply with applicable Michigan requirements before prescribing controlled substances. Consult with the participating physician and/or Medical Director regarding complex cases, high-acuity presentations, significant medication concerns, diagnostic uncertainty, or other circumstances requiring physician consultation. Order, review, interpret, and follow up on clinically indicated laboratory studies and other diagnostic testing related to psychiatric medications and member health needs. Maintain timely and accurate psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, progress notes, medication records, orders, laboratory follow-up, treatment plans, consents, and other required clinical documentation. Must be knowledgeable in the Mental Health Code and Medicaid guidelines as well as billing protocols and procedures Coordinate and complete all necessary referrals on behalf of client Monitor satisfaction with services Obtain all prior authorizations and applicable coordination of care Follow PsyGenics, Inc. professional code of conduct Represent PsyGenics, Inc. in the community, at meetings, and other events as required Maintain ongoing training requirements pursuant to the role Handle member or staff concerns timely Other tasks as assigned This is a contractual part-time. Hours to be determined but will be within the hours of Monday

•5:00PM. The position is not remote. Hourly rate of pay commensurate with licensure and experience.
