Job Description

Position Summary:

The Secretarial Office Assistant and Attendance position provides comprehensive administrative, attendance, and enrollment support to Owatonna Online. This role is responsible for overseeing daily student attendance processes, ensuring compliance with compulsory attendance requirements, supporting enrollment and withdrawal procedures, and serving as a point of contact for students, families, staff, and external agencies regarding attendance and registration matters. The position requires a high level of accuracy, judgment, and confidentiality, and plays a critical role in maintaining student records and ensuring timely communication between the school, families, and partnering agencies.

This is NOT a remote position; this person will report to work out of the Area Learning Center.

Position Requirements:

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working as a building, department, or district administrative assistant, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with software programs and student information systems; highly developed verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Associates/Technical degree preferred.

Other Skills & Abilities:

Maintain flexibility in day-to-day dealing with staff, students, and parents in school office environment. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; general knowledge of school system routines and procedures; general knowledge of school policies and regulations; general knowledge of business English, spelling and computation; thorough skill in oral and written communication; thorough skill using personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment; some skill using standard attendance software; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and associates. Consistent and reliable attendance required.

Schedule:

4 hours/day/ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm / M-F

Rate of Pay:

B-2-1 // $19.72-$23.83/hour depending on experience.
