Director of Special EducationJOB GOAL
To complete the detail and written work required by the position; to coordinate other matters of central to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Director.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
N/AESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned Assists the Director in screening telephone calls, emails, visitors and recorded messages etc. Assists the Director and persons assigned to him/her Maintains databases of students receiving services through Special Education Monitors and updates changes to Special Education teacher rosters monthly Enters Child Find data and December 1 data in MSIS Inputs work orders for maintenance Attends meetings and types notes for meetings per request Collaborates with other secretaries to ensure the receptionist area is covered at all times Assist all other administrative staff, teachers, certified and noncertified staff as directed Types correspondence and reports for the Director Assists in the use of office copiers and other machines as needed Filing documents Types letters, emails and notices to parents, guardians and other employees related to the position Takes telephone calls, relays messages to the Special Education staff Stamps and prepares mail for the post office Processes approved purchase orders and verifies invoices Assists with budget and entering financial information as requested by the Director Assistant Director in public relations work in which he or she is involved Manages and processes payroll attendance etc.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma; Prior secretarial experience; technology skills. Google docs experience, MSIS and Microsoft office experience are a plus.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals: ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general publicMATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and sometimes lift 25 pounds. Mobility skills are necessary to access a variety of work locations.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field; ability to establish an effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, fellow employees, and the community; ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form: ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will work in an environment adhering to school board policy. This position may require work hours that vary as a result of evening activities or emergencies. In addition, job requirements may require work on weekends, holidays and attendance at meetings.PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
