Job Description
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and secretarial techniques
- Thorough knowledge of Business English, spelling, and arithmetic
- Thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices
- Ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources
- Ability to perform and organize work independently
- Ability to type and transcribe dictation
- Ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to supervisor
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of experience in veteran's services, human services, or administrative work OR
- Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in veteran's services, human services, or administrative work OR
- Bachelor's Degree preferably with major emphasis on coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field AND
- Must possess or obtain accreditation with the North Carolina Division of Military and Veterans' Affairs and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers within 18 months of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
