A screen reader is a software application that enables people with visual impairments to use a computer. Screen readers work closely with the computers Operating System to provide information about icons, menus, dialogue boxes, files and folders. This position will provide administrative support to agency programs and staff in the Las Cruces office. How does it get done? Answers incoming calls, provides information about Commission programs/services, and routes calls to appropriate staff members as necessary. Gathers basic information from interested callers seeking Commission services and routes referrals to Vocational Rehabilitation and/or Independent Living Program staff. Processes purchase documents and payment vouchers in accordance with applicable requirements. Proofs outgoing correspondence and distributes incoming mail Who are the customers? Staff and clients of the Commission Ideal Candidate Staff and clients of the Commission Minimum Qualification No prior experience or training required. Employment Requirements Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting, where duties generally require walking, sitting, standing, lifting, and bending. Requires extensive operation of office equipment, such as computer, copier, phone, fax, and postage meter. Regularly exposed to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT); Occasionally interacts with individuals with secondary disabilities, some of which resulting in challenging behaviors.
