Assistant Administrator•AIT or LNHA Elderwood at Cheektowaga | Cheektowaga, NY Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Leadership Build Your Career in Healthcare Administration Elderwood at Cheektowaga is seeking an Assistant Administrator to help lead facility operations and support exceptional care, service, and organizational performance. We are intentionally considering candidates at different stages of their healthcare leadership careers. This opportunity may be a strong fit for: An Administrator-in-Training seeking meaningful operational experience A licensed nursing home administrator interested in an Assistant Administrator opportunity An assisted living leader ready to expand into skilled nursing and rehabilitation A healthcare operations or customer-service leader with the potential to grow into facility administration You do not need to arrive with every answer. You do need to bring sound judgment, initiative, accountability, a strong service mindset, and a genuine interest in learning the full scope of post-acute healthcare operations. A Leadership Role with Broad Exposure Working closely with the facility Administrator and department leaders, the Assistant Administrator will gain hands-on exposure to the clinical, operational, regulatory, financial, workforce, and resident-service functions of a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. This is not an observational training role. You will be an active member of the facility leadership team, helping solve problems, strengthen communication, support employees, and improve the experience of residents and families. Why Elderwood? Responsibilities:
What You'll Do Partner with the Administrator in supporting day-to-day facility operations Build strong working relationships with nursing, human resources, admissions, business office, social services, rehabilitation, dining, environmental services, and other department leaders Help monitor operational priorities, quality initiatives, regulatory requirements, and performance goals Support a responsive, service-focused experience for residents and families Assist with addressing concerns and ensuring appropriate follow-through Strengthen communication and accountability across departments Participate in leadership meetings, operational reviews, and improvement initiatives Help identify barriers affecting residents, employees, admissions, or facility performance Support employee engagement and a positive, respectful workplace culture Develop the operational knowledge and leadership capabilities needed for future Administrator opportunities
Qualifications:
Who We're Looking For We welcome candidates from skilled nursing, post-acute care, assisted living, senior living, healthcare operations, hospitality, or other service-driven environments. You may be a strong fit if you: Are pursuing an Administrator-in-Training pathway or currently hold a Nursing Home Administrator license Have leadership experience in assisted living and want to broaden your healthcare operations background Understand how strong service, communication, and follow-through influence resident and family trust Can balance competing priorities while remaining visible, composed, and responsive Build productive relationships across clinical and nonclinical departments Take ownership, follow through on commitments, and address problems constructively Want to develop a deeper understanding of skilled nursing operations, quality, and regulatory performance Are motivated by the opportunity to grow into greater healthcare leadership responsibility Prior skilled nursing leadership experience is valuable, but it is not the only path into this role. Candidates with relevant assisted living or service-centered leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
