I'm a 27-year-old man who is blind and directs my own services. I'm sociable, independent, and enjoy getting out in the community and meeting new people. I'm looking for a dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with me one-on-one and help me continue building my independence at home and in the community. This is a Community Habilitation position. It is less about traditional direct care and more about being a reliable assistant and support person who can help me navigate the community, accomplish everyday tasks, and participate in the activities that are important to me.

Schedule:
Weekly hours may include a combination of weekdays and weekend days. The specific schedule will be determined based on participant needs and the selected worker's availability. What You'll Do Provide one-on-one support at home and in the community. Provide transportation to activities, appointments, special events, shopping, and other community outings. Assist with meal planning, food preparation, cooking, grocery and supply shopping, cleaning, and other household tasks as needed. Help with navigating unfamiliar environments and accessing community activities. Support independence while providing assistance when needed. Help maintain safety at home and while out in the community. Complete required documentation related to services provided. What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED required. Valid New York State driver's license required. Reliable personal vehicle and ability to provide transportation required. Dependable, responsible, and comfortable working independently. Good judgment and communication skills. Ability to complete required documentation accurately. Someone who is comfortable providing practical assistance while respecting independence and personal choice.
