Posted Date 9/03/2026 Description Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement invites applications for an Office Specialist 1 position for the Extension Service Clatsop County Office in Astoria, Oregon. This is a 12-month, part-time (approximately 35 hours per week), classified position. The mission of the OSU Division of Extension and Engagement (division) is to work with communities throughout Oregon to support lifelong learning and co-create innovative solutions to address local challenges. Together, we envision a future where Oregon's people, communities and ecosystems prosper. As a team member, this OS1 provides general office support and program support for Extension Clatsop County office. This OS1 provides a wide range of office support including serving as the office's reception, providing educational resources, performing record and database management, editing/updating/maintaining web/social media content and digital marketing, and providing general assistance to the public or referring individuals to the appropriate OSU Extension employee. The OS1 support includes providing excellent and empathetic customer service while engaging in culturally appropriate and inclusive communication. This individual serves broad and diverse populations and provides services that are accessible and inclusive. Key Responsibilities Serve as the front desk reception, which includes answering multiple phone lines, screen and direct incoming calls; responding to emails and in-person requests; and returning voicemails promptly. Provide excellent and empathetic customer service while engaging in culturally appropriate and inclusive communication. Provide general office support, which includes preparing mailings; making copies; processing incoming mail; reserving meeting room; and ordering supplies. Provide general program support, which includes assisting the public and program participants with enrollment, resources, and ongoing relevant information; and creating original, public-facing documents with accurate program and office information. Edit, update, and maintain web/social media content and digital marketing materials. Assist with 4-H enrollment and fair management activities, which include attending the fair to help with fair event activities; and data entry (e.g., fair participant and events records) into the applicable system. Collect merchandise payments and registration fees (cash and check) for programs, issue receipts, and prepare for bank depositing.
