In person — Rutland, Vermont Job Description The Rutland County Solid Waste District (RCSWD) is seeking a dependable and organized Scale / Office Assistant to support scale operations at the District's Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and provide administrative support to the District office. This is a hybrid position, with approximately half of the job involving scale operations and the remainder consisting of administrative and office responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Scale Operations Open the District office and ensure scale operations are ready to begin at 7:00 AM. Operate the MRF truck scale and associated software. Weigh and process commercial vehicles and local haulers entering and leaving the facility. Accurately enter transaction information and generate scale tickets. Maintain scale records and assist with daily reconciliation and reporting. Communicate professionally with drivers, haulers, facility personnel, and vendors. Administrative and Office Support Answer telephone calls, emails, and general inquiries. Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and general recordkeeping. Prepare correspondence, forms, spreadsheets, and reports. Assist with invoicing, accounts receivable, deposits, and other routine financial administrative functions. Assist with mail, purchasing, office supplies, and general office operations. Provide administrative support to the District Manager and Administrative Services Manager. Assist with regulatory records and reporting as assigned. Perform other duties and special projects as needed. Qualifications Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers. Good computer, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. Previous administrative, data-entry, bookkeeping, or similar office experience is helpful but not required. Previous scale experience is a plus but not required.
