Job Description

Responsible for the reception duties and front office, including answering incoming telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments, collecting co-payments, front office insurance verification, updating insurance and demographic information in the current practice system. Responsible for the maintenance of patient health information (PHI) using Acumen Epic EHR System. Works well with other staff members to provide quality service and maintain patient satisfaction. Uses excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Accepts primary responsibility for phone response in an efficient manner, respectful of appropriate phone etiquette, to include: answering phones, relaying calls, taking and relaying messages, placing calls as directed, speaking clearly in a pleasant tone and contacting physicians in an appropriate fashion. Scan incoming records from fax, mail, and patient visits. Notify patients of their co-payment obligation and collect at time of clinic appointment. Notify billing dept and update patient database with any appropriate insurance/demographic changes. Responsible for scheduling appointments as well as maintaining schedules in EPIC for all physicians. Monitor the patient reception area insuring an orderly flow of patients. Enter patient profiles and updates into Acumen EPIC system. Maintain a high degree of professionalism in both appearance and presentation at all times. Maintain confidentiality regarding all matters of patient, physician and financial affairs. Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner according to the policies and procedures of the office.
