Join the hard-working team at the City of Baytown as a part-time Records Technician in our City Clerk's office. We're looking for someone organized and detail-oriented, ready to dive into maintaining and managing important city records. This position requires superior computer knowledge and skills, organizational and communications skills, requires initiative, attention to details, independent thinking, and ability to work with little supervision. Must have exceptional and proficient writing skills, critical thinking skills, and knowledge of general office procedures and routines. The Records Technician will assist with special projects as needed. Assists with Records Management and other areas within the City Clerk's office. Maintains Boards and Commission database and website. Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents. Proofreads and transcribes minutes and any other documents requested by City Council for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy. Standard office duties include answering the telephone, scanning, typing, filing, data entry, sorting, faxing or e-mailing information and documents. Assists customers with City Clerk related information in person at the front window, via email and on the telephone. Assists with special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED). One year of customer service or administrative office experience. OR An equivalent combination of experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred:
Experience with Laserfiche Records Management Software. Experience transcribing meeting minutes. General administrative abilities - typing, filing, reception, customer service. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and work with confidential information. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public. Experience with records management, Laserfiche Software and attention to detail. Here at the City of Baytown, in recruiting for our team, we welcome the unique contributions that you bring. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
