Our small, client-focused law firm in Hurst is seeking a dedicated and proactive Part-Time Legal Office Assistant to support various office-related tasks. We offer a flexible schedule with either a morning or afternoon shift, targeting approximately 20 hours per week. We are looking for a self-starter who is highly organized , efficient in managing their workload to meet deadlines , and possesses strong attention to detail . The ideal candidate will be adept at following instructions, working independently with initiative, and committed to maintaining an organized and professional office environment . You must have reliable transportation and a consistent record of punctuality. Outstanding client service is a cornerstone of our practice. We need a "people person" with a welcoming and professional demeanor, as you will often be the first point of contact for our clients. You will play a key role in ensuring our clients feel valued and well-assisted.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Reception & Client Services:
Managing front desk operations, warmly greeting clients, answering and directing phone calls, and scheduling appointments.
Administrative & Clerical Support:
Creating new client files and maintaining existing physical and digital filing systems with precision. Managing, scanning, copying, and filing legal documents and general paperwork. Drafting and proofreading routine correspondence, memos, and other documents under attorney supervision, ensuring accuracy and professionalism. Handling incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
Office Organization & Management:
Proactively organizing and tidying the office space, including common areas and supply storage. Monitoring and managing inventory of office supplies.
Legal Support Functions:
Assisting with light accounting and bookkeeping tasks, such as data entry for expenses, preparing bank deposits, and potentially assisting with invoice processing. Providing administrative support for trial preparation, which may include organizing case documents, preparing exhibit binders, and coordinating logistics as directed. Performing other general office-related tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience in an office administrative or assistant role is preferred. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and correctly utilize basic legal terminology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with general office equipment (e.g., multi-line phone system, scanner, copier, fax machine, shredder). Minimum typing speed of 55 WPM. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and also contribute as part of a team. High degree of professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to client confidentiality. Dependable and punctual with reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 49 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts. Ability to climb up and down stairs (if applicable to the office layout).
Compensation:
Part-time position: $300-$400 per week (commensurate with experience.)
