The Position:
The Cross-Functional Support Intern is a temporary, part-time role reporting to the Assistant Director of Cross-Functional Support, who will serve as your mentor. This internship is a hands-on introduction to how a nonprofit runs: you'll support the front desk, office operations, program administration, and outreach efforts that keep Neuhaus running smoothly for the educators, families, and students we serve. No prior professional experience is required. This role is designed as an entry point into nonprofit and administrative work, building a foundation for a future career in nonprofit management, operations, education, or public service.
Position Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and general inquiries, resolving common questions about registration, orders, logins, and transcripts, and escalating when needed. Greet and check in guests, ensuring all visitors sign in and receive a visitor's badge. Process payments for books, classes, and materials, and monitor and respond to shared email inboxes in a timely manner. Receive deliveries, sort and distribute mail and packages, and order and track materials for participants. Keep the reception area, lobby, copy room, supply cabinets, and coffee bar clean, organized, and stocked, and coordinate classroom setup for meetings and events. Complete basic tasks in the Student Information System, Canvas, and Shopify, including emailing certificates and transcripts to participants and updating the Neuhaus Events calendar. Support marketing and outreach by keeping brochure displays and signage current and helping draft or proofread flyers, email blurbs, and social media captions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of high school, college, or a related program. Coursework or interest in nonprofit management, education, business, communications, or a related field is a plus, but not required. No prior professional experience required; customer service, volunteer, or school-based leadership experience is a plus. Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is helpful. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, but not required. Available to work on-site Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM, from October through December 18, 2026.
