Job Description

About the Role We are a busy family of four and a dog looking for a wonderful, dependable person to help us keep our home organized and running smoothly. We're calling this role a Household Manager / Family Assistant because it's more than housekeeping. There will absolutely be laundry, dishes, tidying, vacuuming, and other regular household tasks—but we're really looking for someone who can also help us stay on top of all the projects and little details that come with running a home. The best way to describe what we're looking for is this: we don't want to have to make a detailed list every week. We'd love to find someone who gets to know our family and our home and starts to see what needs doing. Maybe the pantry has gotten out of control. The kids have clearly outgrown half the clothes in their closets. There's a pile that needs to go to Goodwill. We're almost out of something we use all the time. The car needs an oil change. There's a closet we've been meaning to organize for six months. We want someone who can notice those things, talk with us about priorities when needed, and then help make them happen.
Our goal is pretty simple:
spend less of our family time managing the house. This is not a childcare position , and we are not looking for a nanny. We have two school-age children who will obviously be around at times, so being comfortable with kids is important, but childcare isn't part of the job. What You'd Help With Keeping the House Running Family laundry: washing, folding, putting away, and keeping laundry areas organized Dry cleaning drop-off and pickup Loading/unloading the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen and common areas tidy Vacuuming high-traffic areas, dusting, and general upkeep between deeper cleanings Keeping closets, storage spaces, and frequently used areas reasonably organized Occasionally cleaning up the yard after our dog Organizing & Projects This is a big part of what we're looking for. We'd love someone who enjoys looking at a space or problem and making it better.
Projects might include:
Reorganizing the pantry Going through the kids' closets and pulling out clothes that are worn or too small Organizing a closet, storage area, kids' space, or garage Managing donations and getting unwanted items out of the house Swapping seasonal clothing or household items Helping us prepare the house before guests arrive Helping with packing/unpacking or getting the house organized before and after a trip Holiday decor Suggesting other projects that would make the house easier to manage Errands & The Random Life Stuff There are always little things that need to get done, and we'd love to be able to hand some of them off.
That could include:
Returns Donations Dry cleaning Picking up household items Restocking household supplies Managing packages and breaking down boxes Researching or coordinating a repair or household service Being available for occasional special projects Cars We'd also love help staying on top of our family vehicles, including: Scheduling maintenance and service Taking a car in for routine maintenance when needed Car washes/interior cleaning Who Would Be Great at This Job We're looking for someone who is: Organized and proactive. You naturally see things that could work better and enjoy fixing them. Independent. Once you understand how we like things done, you don't need us to manage every task. Practical and resourceful. If something comes up, you're comfortable figuring out a solution or bringing us a recommendation. Reliable. If you say you're going to take care of something, we can trust that it will get done. Flexible. Some weeks will be mostly routine household tasks; other weeks may have a bigger project that becomes the priority. A good communicator. We don't expect you to read our minds! We want someone who is comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and checking in when needed. Someone who genuinely enjoys organizing and making a home work better. Previous experience as a household manager, family assistant, professional organizer, personal assistant, or in a similar role would be wonderful. A Few Requirements Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation Comfortable around school-age children (no childcare responsibilities) Comfortable around dogs; we have a friendly Australian Labradoodle Authorized to work in the United States Willing to complete a background check Strong professional references Able to handle normal physical household tasks, including lifting and moving typical household items
Schedule & Compensation Hours:
Approximately 15-25 hours per week. We have flexibility around the exact schedule and would like to discuss what works well for both us and the right person.
Compensation:
$37-$43/hour , based on experience and references. We're hoping to find someone who wants to become a trusted, long-term part of keeping our household running—not just someone to work through a checklist and leave. If you're the person who sees an overflowing closet and actually gets excited about making it functional again, we'd love to hear from you.
To Apply:
Please submit a resume and a brief explanation of why you are a fit for this role. Also, please list 3 references. We look forward to meeting you!
