Program Coordinator
Job Description
Under general supervision, perform work requiring knowledge and experience specific to the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). Provide students, staff, program participants and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to the program. Compose written communications and establish and maintain records relating to program operations. Assist supervisor and staff members with program activities, marketing, reporting, and database management and student records. The position is responsible for independently prioritizing work, coordinating, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of the office.
•CAMP is a federal program in the United States designed to identify and provide services for individuals from migrant seasonal farm working backgrounds. CAMP is 100% funded by the United States Department of Education. Provide professional, energetic, and friendly front-line service to students, staff, faculty and community members. Use CAMP student database to enter and track student demographic, contact and schedule information and maintain student files in a consistent and orderly manner. Order and maintain office supplies. Provide information and advice to students, staff, program participants and/or the public regarding program content, policies and activities. Assist in recruiting and coordination the work of student employees. Coordinate student and staff travel (meal money, registration, lodging, etc.). Promote the program on campus and with outside organizations. Serve as the department administrator in the absence of the director. Independently prepare and process purchase orders; research, identify and correct budget and/or accounting discrepancies. Establish receipt files for back up of data. Balance the CAMP in-house expenditures to the
WVC CAMP
budget screen. Work with the fiscal services office to ensure compliance with federal spending regulations, college processes, open/close budget lines as necessary, and process end of year budget closures and reporting. Provide monthly budget reports and end-of-year budget projections to the director of CAMP. Use word processing, graphics, statistical, spreadsheet and/or database software. Serve as primary lead of CAMP mentors, office aids and tutors. Provide training to student mentors, including but not limited to, procedures, regulations and program planning for co-curricular activities. Maintain collaborative work relationships and foster positive resolutions when conflicts occur. Plan and coordinate yearly event calendar and scheduling for meetings, activities and events. Monitor program activities in relation to establish goals/standards and adjust accordingly. Perform related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree. Bilingual & Bicultural (
English/Spanish:
reading, writing, speaking and understanding). Two years of office/customer service experience. Experience that illustrates an understanding of the migrant/seasonal farm worker populations. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheets (Word and Excel preferred). Ability to work independently and contribute collaboratively to a team environment, while effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines. Or, if you do not meet one or more of qualifications listed above but have an applicable combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Experience working with federally funded educational programs. Familiarity with the WVC service district. Experience working in higher education. Basic accounting or bookkeeping experience. Highly motivated, organized and self-directed. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Demonstrated ability to use exceptional communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, empathy, diplomacy, discretion and integrity in interactions with diverse constituencies.
Oral communication:
Speak clearly and persuasively, actively listen and take the time to understand the points being made, including asking questions as appropriate and responding to questions. High level of proficiency and accuracy in software packages including word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.

Accurate and thorough, prepare detailed reports, evaluate processes to identify ways to improve and promote quality. Terms of Employment:
The current vacancy in the CAMP is a full-time overtime and benefit eligible position expected to begin as soon as possible. The starting salary hiring range is $44,856 annually ($21.48 per hour) to $50,412 annually ($24.14 per hour) with periodic increases and earning potential to $59,760 annually ($28.62 per hour), plus approximately 5% multilingual pay. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. The list established by this recruitment will be used for this position only. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. Work Schedule & Environment:
Work hours are generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (1 hour lunch); hours and days may change depending on the needs of the college. Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Regular and consistent attendance required.
