Compensation:
$25.00-$38.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package (see below)
Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The standard workday is 8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 7:30 AM-3:30 PM, set in consultation with the Superintendent; the position may occasionally extend beyond the standard day when District Office needs require. This role attends monthly Board of Education meetings and occasional special meetings held in the evening. About the Role The Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent is the hub of the District Office. This position supports the Superintendent and Board of Education, coordinates the district's day-to-day human resources functions, and serves as the first point of contact for staff, families, and community members. It's a role for someone who is organized, discreet, and takes pride in keeping a busy office running smoothly. What You'll Do Board of Education support: Prepare and post meeting agendas and public notices, record accurate minutes for regular, special, and expulsion hearings, administer school board elections and referendum tasks, and coordinate policy reviews and updates with the Superintendent and Neola.
Human resources coordination:
Post vacancies, process background checks, and issue offer letters; onboard and offboard employees; recruit and maintain the substitute pool; track DPI-required trainings, licensure, and the Fall Staffing Report; process FMLA requests and workers' compensation claims; and coordinate wellness initiatives such as flu clinics and screenings.
District Office operations:
Greet visitors and answer calls and emails with a high level of service, manage mail, supplies, and travel arrangements, maintain the building key/fob security database, assist with public records requests, and help plan district-wide events. What We're Looking For No prior experience is required; we will train the right person. We're looking for: High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in business, HR, or a related field a plus Strong written communication and attention to detail, especially in preparing official documents and minutes Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office; experience with HR or board management software (e.g., Skyward, BoardDocs, Frontline) is helpful but not required A welcoming, professional presence with the ability to juggle competing priorities Administrative experience in a school district, HR office, or public sector setting is welcome but not necessary Benefits Waterford Union High School District offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, effective on your date of hire:
