Job Description

Job Summary:
The Front Office Assistant's main responsibility is to support the daily activities of the Surgical Center front office, including but not limited to, insurance preauthorization, scheduling, and checking-in patients.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
Experience:
Prefer two years of experience in a healthcare setting. Medical terminology and insurance preauthorization experience is preferred. Candidates should also be familiar with patient scheduling and healthcare privacy laws.
Job Skills and Requirements:
1. Professional team member, flexible with the changing needs of the surgical center 2. Effective communicator, both verbally and written 3. Multi-task between side-work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy. 4. Training and/or experience with data entry and proficient in Microsoft Suite 5. Ability to work with various computer programs 6. Practices strategic thinking, organization, problem solving and prioritization 7. All employees have the responsibility to comply with the organizational policies, procedures, code of conduct and pertinent governmental regulations related to the position.
Physical Requirements:
1. Sitting for extended period of time without being able to leave the work area 2. Employees will occasionally be asked to lift files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds 3. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, computer, telephone, calculator, copier and other office equipment as necessary. 4. Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time 5. Environment is fast-paced
Job Relationship:
Report to the Administrative Director and works very closely with Front Office team members. Must communicate in a professional manner with patients, guests, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ability to work through assignments independently and contribute to a team environment 2. Assist with insurance preauthorization for many diverse insurers 3. Maintain a high level of accuracy and data integrity while documenting patient encounters. 4. Counsel patients on financial obligations, insurance requirements and compute estimates 5. Navigate surgical databases to import patient historical records and troubleshoot patient inquiries. 6. Adhere to surgical scheduling guidelines and apply adjustments as suggested by physicians and medical staff. 7. Interpret and document patient billing transactions with in Advantx and Allscripts 8. Remain on task throughout the day, evidence of off task activities may result in written warnings and/or termination. 9. Maintain a professional work relationship with CO and WSC staff, surgeons, patients
