• Position Overview Arias Communication Services is hiring an experienced and dependable Central Office Technician to join our telecommunications team in Florida.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of central office telecommunications equipment and related network infrastructure. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while responding to network issues and service interruptions. This is a full‑time position with benefits, company vehicle, paid travel, and steady year‑round work.

• Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair central office telecommunications equipment.

Perform testing and troubleshooting of voice, data, fiber, DSL, broadband, and other telecommunications systems. Maintain equipment including switches, routers, multiplexers, transmission systems, power systems, and associated central office equipment. Perform cable, fiber, copper, and circuit testing using appropriate test equipment . Troubleshoot alarms, equipment failures, transmission problems, and service interruptions. Perform cross-connects, jumper installation, circuit provisioning, and equipment turn-up. Read and interpret telecommunications schematics , wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and circuit documentation. Maintain accurate records of equipment, circuits, testing, repairs, and maintenance activities. Assist with installation and commissioning of new network equipment. Monitor central office systems and respond to alarms and outages. Work with outside plant, construction, engineering, NOC, and field personnel to resolve network problems. Follow all company safety procedures and telecommunications industry standards. Participate in on-call and emergency restoration activities as required. Travel to other company locations or facilities when necessary.

• Required Experience Previous experience as a Central Office Technician, Telecommunications Technician, Network Technician, or similar position.

Working knowledge of telecommunications central office equipment and network systems. Ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, fiber-optic, copper, and telecommunications circuits. Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Basic understanding of DC power systems, batteries, rectifiers, grounding, and central office power distribution. Ability to use test equipment such as multimeters, tone generators, fiber test equipment, and telecommunications test sets. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Preferred Experience Experience with fiber-optic systems and testing.

Experience with broadband, DSL, POTS, VoIP, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, or other carrier network technologies. Experience with Alcatel/Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Calix, Adtran, Ciena, or similar telecommunications equipment. Previous experience working for a telecommunications carrier, broadband provider, or utility. Telecommunications certifications or technical training. Experience with RUS-funded telecommunications projects and documentation.

• Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry telecommunications equipment and materials.

Ability to work in central offices, equipment rooms, outside facilities, and other network locations. Ability to climb ladders and work in confined equipment spaces when necessary. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work around telecommunications equipment for extended periods. Ability to work during emergency outages and severe weather restoration situations when required.
