CLINICAL RECORDS CLERK
$42,480 Annual salary
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
: Performs various clerical and billing duties related to the maintenance and data entry of records; does related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
: (Illustrative only) Initiates and conducts searches of patient information, monitors critical benchmarks for Medicaid services and communicates need for pre-approved requirements and procedures; Organizes, sorts, copies, and distributes required backup for Medicaid billing to appropriate staff, checking for accuracy and completion; Maintains files of completed work; Operates various types of office equipment and software programs; Maintains and updates records in compliance with NYS Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG); Assists in other work of the office such as filing, data entry and recording a variety of legal documents; Assist Principle Clerk with billing as needed; Performs a variety of related tasks as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of modern methods of maintaining, and reviewing records; good knowledge of filing and retrieval systems; Good knowledge of agency policies and procedures; proficiency in spelling, alphabetizing, record keeping, and general clerical operations; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to work independently; ability to write legibly; ability to get along with others; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; neatness; accuracy; tact and courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in billing and general clerical operations to include file maintenance and data entry using a personal computer.
