General Summary Under direct supervision collect, sort, deliver, distribute and dispatch incoming, outgoing and departmental mail, timely and accurately. II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. 1. Receives all incoming mail, interdepartmental mail, notices and memoranda; sorts according to appropriate destination and distributes to all hospital departments accurately and timely in accordance with departmental procedures. A. Delivers mail and provides essential mail information to various Medical System departments. B. Checks and traces improperly addressed mail. Corrects or returns mail to originator. 2. Sorts and weighs all outgoing mail; affixes appropriate postage by using a postage meter and transports to United States Post Office, as necessary, in accordance with departmental procedures. A. Processes registered and/or certified mail packages, insured items and prepares non-profit mailings in accordance with specific procedures. 3. Delivers and retrieves postage meter from the United States Post Office for postage refilling. 4. Observes UMMS and departmental policies and procedures, particularly safety and safe work practices. 5. Attends and participates in in-service and various educational programs for professional development. Work Experience III. Education and Experience 1. Completion of a tenth grade high school level of course is required. 2. Three to six months general work experience is required.
