Under the general supervision of the Director of Administrative Services, the Department Floater/Flex Employee is responsible for performing daily Mailroom duties and providing coverage, as needed, in other areas of Administrative Services, including the Copy Center and Receiving Department.

Department Floater/Flex Employee:
Picks up County mail daily from the Media Post Office. Distributes incoming U.S. Postal Service mail and interoffice mail. Sorts mail and places it in the appropriate departmental mail slots for pick-up. Receives certified mail, scans tracking barcodes, and generates required signature forms. Receives outgoing mail, separates mail by department, processes items through the postage meter, and weighs oversized items to determine accurate postage. Sorts outgoing mail by type and places it in designated bins for daily pick-up. Prepares monthly departmental postage usage reports for all outgoing mail. Maintains an inventory of postal supplies, orders supplies from the U.S. Postal Service as needed, and prepares requisitions for stationery and office supplies for submission to the Supervisor. Provides backup coverage in the Copy Center by operating and maintaining fifteen (15) machines and other equipment used to create and produce a variety of duplication and design projects. Provides backup coverage as a Receiving Department Clerk by accepting deliveries, unloading trucks, and making deliveries to County offices. Performs other related duties as required. High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to perform basic computations. Ability to answer phone calls and take direction. Ability to learn and operate computerized scanners, postage meters, and duplication machines.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend at the waist, speak, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to reach or work with arms above shoulder level; kneel, stoop, crouch, squat, crawl, climb stairs; and twist or rotate at the waist. This position also requires the ability to stand for extended periods while sorting and processing mail, lift mail trays and packages weighing up to 50 pounds, and push or pull supplies and deliveries weighing approximately 700-1,000 pounds using a flatbed, hand truck, or pallet jack.
