Job Description

Job Summary Provides a combination of mail processing and delivery services in a team environment. Provides delivery and pickup services to remote offices on one of four defined routes. Sorts and organizes interoffice mail. Serves as a backup resource on other defined routes. Make deliveries of completed bulk mail products to USPS processing centers and retrieves mail from multiple post office locations. Assists in the preparation of bulk mail products via the operation of high-speed inserters and other mail preparation equipment. Customer base includes all departments plus offices of the elected Board of Supervisors. Must be able and willing to work during unfavorable weather conditions when county offices are open. PPE:
Drop off and pick up mail. Duties Makes daily deliveries of, interoffice mail, USPS mail and various parcels to County facilities on a defined route. Facilities may include offices for multiple agencies, public safety stations, and offices of the Board of Supervisors. Serves as a backup resource for at least one other standard route. Retrieves interoffice mail and parcels from remote County locations. Sorts mail at the Mail Services Government Center processing center, organizing items for efficient delivery to remote locations. Sorts mail delivered to select remote locations into bins corresponding to suites and/or business units. Assists in the preparation of bulk mail workloads. Sets up and operates high speed mail insertion machines based on job specifications for folds, station inserts, postage application, and packaging. Sets up and operates mail processing machinery such as tabbers/addressers, tabletop inserter, and postage application devices. Monitors/ensures quality and accuracy of work performed on these machines. Makes deliveries and pickups from multiple post office locations as directed or as part of the standard delivery route assigned. Transports caller service/PO box mail from multiple USPS facilities to County facilities. Retrieves accountable mail such as certified mail. Delivers processed workloads to USPS bulk mail intake centers as directed. Performs other tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
