Role:
The Front Desk Receptionist in the health care and social assistance industry serves as the vital first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is essential in managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and handling inquiries efficiently to support smooth clinical operations. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and coordinating communication between patients and medical personnel. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a health care setting. Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in medical office administration or related field. Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech. Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community. Knowledge of medical terminology and health care procedures. Training in customer service or patient relations.
Responsibilities:
Greet and welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying personal and insurance information. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Answer and direct incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding services and procedures. Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Coordinate communication between patients, medical staff, and other departments to facilitate efficient workflow. Handle administrative tasks such as processing payments, managing mail, and ordering office supplies. Assist in managing waiting room logistics to minimize patient wait times and enhance the patient experience.
